翻译系简介

翻译专业是一门新兴学科，是国家教育部批准设置的应用型专业，也是职业翻译的基础专业，为社会实际需求和硕博阶段的人才培养提供受过翻译系统学习的合格本科毕业生。外国语学院1978年为中央各大部委培养了30多期出国人员翻译培训班；1993年开始招收外语本科专业，并设立翻译方向；2001年建立外语硕士点，设立翻译理论与实践研究方向；2011年开始招收翻译专业硕士研究生(MTI)。经过几十年的建设和发展，学院培养了一批具有丰富口、笔译经验、治学严谨的翻译师资队伍。

翻译系现有在职教职工16人，其中教授1人，副教授8人，珠峰计划人才2人，还聘有2名英美外教。教师近年来在A&HCI、CSSCI、中文核心期刊等刊物上发表了翻译研究与教学改革论文50余篇，参与多项国家社科基金、主持20余项科研与教改项目，出版20余部专著、教材、译著，完成110多项口、笔译项目(笔译700万字，口译600小时)。学生多次在海峡两岸口译大赛、“中译杯”口译大赛、“外研社国才杯”全国大学生英语辩论赛和“CCTV杯”全国英语演讲大赛中荣获全国总决赛二、三等奖、西南地区特等奖、四川省特等奖等各种奖项。

Introduction to Department of Translation and Interpreting

The major of Translation and Interpreting is an emerging and applied discipline approved by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China with the aims of training professional translators and cultivating undergraduates equipped with systemic translation skills. In 1978, College of Foreign Languages and Cultures hosted more than 30 translation training classes for personnel who were going to work abroad for China central government. In 1993, students were admitted to the major of English under which translation orientation was established for the first time. Master’s degree has been offered to students in the major of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics under which the orientation of Translation Theory and Practice was set up since 2001. 2011 saw the enrollment of Masters of Translation and Interpreting (MTI). College of Foreign Languages and Cultures has fostered a faculty of devoted and qualified teachers with abundant experience in translation and interpreting.

There are 16 professional teachers (1 professor, 8 associate professors, 2 Everest talent, 2 foreign teachers) in the Department of Translation and Interpreting. Teachers have published more than 50 papers on translation studies in A&HCI, CSSCI, Chinese core journals and other journals. They have participated in a number of projects of national social science fund and hosted over 20 provincial scientific research and teaching reform projects, publishing more than 20 translations and textbooks, fulfilling more than 110 interpreting and translation projects (7 million words in translation, 600 hours in interpreting). Students have won the national second and third prizes, the special awards in southwest, and special award of Sichuan Province and other awards in Cross-Straits Interpreting Contest, CTPC Cup All China Interpreting Contest, FLTRP Cup English Debating Contest and Public Speaking Contest, and CCTV Cup National English Public Speaking Contest.
