英语系创建于1993年，现为国家级一流本科专业。2008年被评为首批省级“特色专业”，2020年获批四川省一流本科专业。自2011年起，依托学院国际化办学，与英国知山大学、加拿大里贾纳大学等开展了国际交流项目。依托外国语言文学一级硕士点和MTI翻译专业硕士点，经贸类、文化传播类等校外实习实践基地，突出对外经贸和对外文化交流的特色，注重培养具有“中国情怀、国际视野”专业基础扎实，了解经济贸易、对外文化交流，具有较强国际经贸知识与跨文化能力，能胜任外经、外贸、对外传播等领域工作的复合型英语人才。现建有省级一流课程《英语语音》及文学、写作等多门校级优质课程。
英语系现有一支年富力强、学术造诣深厚、教学经验丰富的师资队伍。现有专任教师31位，其中，教授3人、副教授10人、讲师16人；博士11人，硕士生导师16人，另有外教3人。英语系教师发表大量高质量学术论文；承担国家社科基金2项，省部级教改和科研项目40余项；获得四川省人民政府教学成果二、三等奖，四川省哲学社会科学优秀成果三等奖，霍英东教育基金会高等院校青年教师奖；专业教师参加外研社“教学之星”大赛、全国外语微课大赛、“外教社杯”全国高校外语教学大赛等省级、全国性教学比赛，获奖特等奖、一等奖、二等奖等多项；英语系学生获“外研社”全国大学生英语辩论赛、阅读比赛、“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛、全国大学生英语竞赛、APEC未来之声选拔赛、四川省“互联网+”学生创新创业大赛等竞赛奖项200余项。

Introduction to English Department
The English Department was founded in 1993 and now is a national first-class major. In 2008, it was honored as the earliest characteristic specialty major in Sichuan Province. In 2020, it was approved as a provincial first-class major. Since 2011, the inter-school exchange programs have been carried out with Edge Hill University (U.K.) and the University of Regina (Canada). Based on the Master’s Degree Programs of Foreign Literature and the Master of Interpreting and Translation (MTI), and related off-campus practice bases, we highlight the specialties in the learning of foreign trade and cultural exchanges, aiming to cultivate versatile talents of the English language with patriotism and an international vision. They are expected to have solid professional foundations and an understanding of economic trade and trans-cultural exchanges. After graduation, our students are competent in the fields of foreign economics, foreign trade, and international communications. We currently have one provincial first-class course “English Pronunciation and Intonation” and several high-quality university-level courses such as literature and writing.
We have a faculty with high academic attainments and rich teaching experience. There are 30 full-time faculty members consisting of 3 professors, 10 associate professors, and 16 lecturers. In addition, there are 10doctors, 16 master supervisors and 3 foreign teachers. Since the founding of our department, faculty members have published numerous high-quality academic papers, undertaken 2 National Scientific Research Fund Projects and more than 40 educational reform and research projects for the Ministry of Education and Sichuan Province. In addition, they are the recipients of numerous accolades in both academic research and teaching, including the second and third prizes of the Sichuan Teaching Achievement Award, the third prize of the Outstanding Achievement Award for philosophy and social sciences of Sichuan Province, and the Excellent Young Teacher Award from the Huo Yingdong Education Fund. A number of our teachers have been awarded the first and second prize in many teaching contests including the “FLTRP Teaching Star” English Teaching Contest, SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest, and National Micro-lecture Competition of Foreign Language. With the guidance of teachers, students majoring in English have also won more than 200 awards from various national competitions, such as the “FLTRP Cup” National English Debating Competition, Reading Competition, “21st Century Cup” National English-Speaking Competition, National English Competition for College Students, and so on.
